Increased Taxes for Land Owners

The finance committee in the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen approved the proposal of the administration to increase the property taxes. The draft budget for 2010 mentions the increase of the tax B from 360 to 410 points. However, the local council also needs to approve the proposal.

Officials stated that the increased taxes will bring about 700,000 euros more to the market. The tax office made estimates in advance. Thus, the owner of a house who has paid by now 200 euros in taxes, will have to pay 27.78 euros more. Thomas Schmid, the mayor of the city south of Munich, also reportedly declared that the rise would be necessary, giving as the main reason the higher contribution rates the city has to make to the county.
